QussatHajer: The Creative Oasis of Hajer Rahee

Today, BAYT features an Iraqi-American member of our community: Hajer Rahee. Hajer is the photographer behind QussatHajer (@qussathajer on Instagram). Although Hajer’s photography account may seem self-explanatory, she reveals just how meaningful and transformative the creative process is for her. She hopes QussatHajer catalyzes unity and strength among all Middle Eastern individuals — a cause BAYT supports and delights in.

“I created QussatHajer with the intention of sharing my art. As I tried out different art styles and modes of expression, I learned what I enjoyed the most was storytelling and photography/filmography. Through these mediums, I aim to one day tell the stories of people of Middle Eastern descent, women, and pretty much anyone who wants to share their life with me. Before I get to that, though, I realized I want to try telling my own story first. The pictures I take today are serving that purpose.” — Hajer Rahee
